About

My name is Kate Corey, and I will be graduating from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy (LFSOP) in May 2023 with a BA in Philanthropic Studies and a minor in Communication Studies.

I grew up in New Palestine, IN with my parents, brother, and five cats. Suffice to say, there was never a dull moment growing up, and I naturally developed an intense love for cats. This is where my journey in the philanthropic sector began, as I often dragged my parents to the local animal shelter to volunteer on the weekends. I also participated regularly in church fundraising events and Girl Scouts, both of which exposed me to different kinds of giving (time, money, and service).

As the years went on, I continued volunteering at animal shelters until I got my dream job at Nine Lives Cat Cafe in Fountain Square, and, eventually, my position on the board of the cat nonprofit IndyAdopts. During my time with both of these organizations, I've had the opportunity to plan events, fundraise, develop a website, apply for grants, and more.

I am deeply passionate about animal welfare, the arts, conservation, and the environment. After graduation, I hope to find either an internship or a full-time job that fits within these interests. I am most interested in pursuing jobs related to event planning and volunteer coordination, and I am actively job hunting as of April 2023! My journey in the nonprofit sector has only just begun, and I'm excited to continue my education and enhance my skillset.
